A five-person team at the Globe and Mail have been nominated for the Jack Webster award for best News Reporting of the year for their story Tumbler Ridge horror, which appeared the day after the shooting here in Tumbler Ridge.
Nathan VanderKlippe, Mike Hager, Andrea Woo, Justine Hunter, Jana Pruden, Tu Thanh Ha, Patrick White wrote the story, which is available (behind a paywall) on the Globe and Mail’s website.
This year marks the 40th annual Webster Awards, Western Canada’s “preeminent journalism awards.”
The story is up against Kim Bolan and Sobia Moman’s story: Extortion is disrupting B.C. lives and businesses. And there’s no end in sight, published in the Vancouver Sun/Province and Justine Hunter, David Ebner and Frances Bula who wrote The claim against private land: the Cowichan court ruling for The Globe and Mail.
The Websters recognize excellence in journalism in BC, and the winners will be announced on November 2.
