On April 3, as part of the District’s ten days of Hockeyville, the District drove the Zamboni about town, escorted by the RCMP and other luminaries, including Theresa Nevills (top left), the Vancouver Island retiree who nominated Tumbler Ridge for the Hockeyville prize and who drove up here along with her husband and two pups when Tumbler Ridge made the top two.
Amongst the crowd cheering on the Zamboni parade was Austin and Megan, sitting in the back of Austin’s truck (top right).
Most of the people who were there are in the top banner photo, except for me.
This page shows celebrations from the block party, including Amber serving KD, and Jay, who was totally working that day.
We have images from April 4, which was not only the District’s Hockeyville announcement celebration, but the Lions Easter Egg event, which was moved to the arena after the snow failed to melt. You could throw pies at the local pharmacist, get signatures from Andrew Ference, play black light dodge ball at the Community Centre or just celebrate Easter.
Drummers and dancers showed up from Saulteau First Nations, while members of the Feral Hockey Moms Club spent much of their time voting for Tumbler Ridge, joined by Theresa Nevills and Bob Zimmer. While there were many NHL jerseys, Riley and Karen showed their OG TR spirit with Coal Kings/Coal Timers jerseys.
