Obituary for Clayton “Clay” Iles April 7, 1938 – October 25, 2023
Clay passed peacefully at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 85. His family would like to thank the staff on Unit 23 and Dr. Brad Martin for their care and kindness.
Clay was born and raised in Manitoba with a big loving family. Clay and his wife Marj (Parfit) lived throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NWT, and BC. They moved to Sexsmith in the 70’s where they raised their 5 children. They moved to Tumbler Ridge, BC where they shared a wonderful life together until Marj’s passing in 1995. In 1999, Clay married Ferne Emberley and they enjoyed life together in Tumbler Ridge before moving to Grande Prairie 2018.
Throughout his life Clay worked hard in various mines, road construction, P&G, had his own autobody shop and was the Mayor of Tumbler Ridge. Clay was a highly competitive hockey player, coached many hockey teams and enjoyed the sport with his family. He also loved playing baseball and never turned down a round of golf. Most of all Clay loved spending time with family and friends. He loved to laugh, dance, snuggle babies, and tell stories. Clay was a kind, generous, good man.
Clay will be remembered by his family; wife Ferne, sister Deloris (Wayne), brother Lee (Lois) children; Maurice (Dawn), Karlene, Tracy (Phil), Kelly (Rick) and Buck (Tanya), many grandchildren and great children and the Parfit and Emberley families.
He was predeceased by his parents Earl & Vi, wife Marj, brothers Len, Ken, Orval & Morris, grandson Joel, and daughter-in-law Brenda.
Everyone is welcome to the funeral service for Clay on November 1, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (10404-102 Street). A gathering of friends and family to follow at the Golden Age Centre (10222-101 avenue).
