On Saturday, November 19, members of the Tumbler Ridge Council, the Rumbler Ridge Fire Department, the Tumbler Ridge Rangers and the Tumbler Ridge Junior Rangers and members of the local community were out collecting donations for the Tumbler Ridge Food Bank.
The drive started at three in the afternoon and ran until nearly eight in the evening, with hundreds of pounds of food being collected.
The food drive is the biggest donation day for the Food Bank, although donations of both food and cash are accepted year-round.
Carol Keber is the new coordinator of the food bank after the previous coordinator, Ronke Solomon, moved away. She says she’s still calculating how much food was donated.
“Once again the Tumbler Ridge Food Bank was blessed by the community for their generous donation this year,” says Keber.
“We couldn’t perform this yearly operation without the assistance of the numerous volunteers that came out to assist. We would like to say a great big thank you from the Tumbler Ridge Food Bank.”
