Did you feel that?

On October 26 at 3:17 in the afternoon, an earthquake hit the Tumbler Ridge area, about 66 km northwest of town, near the Sukunka Valley.

The earthquake registered as a magnitude of 2.9.

A 2.9 magnitude earthquake is considered a minor earthquake, typically not big enough to be felt, usually, but large enough to be measured.

There are an estimated 1 million minor earthquakes every year.

It’s earthquake number 11 for the area this year, compared to three last years.

The largest quake so far this year was a magnitude 3.3 on April 30, which is slightly stronger and able to be noticed.

That is the largest quake in the Tumbler Ridge area in the last decade, and 11 quakes makes this the most quakes we’ve had in a single year ever.
