School’s out for summer (A day early)

The extreme heat has claimed another victim: the last day of class at TRSS.

According to Principal Brendan Bogle, classes will be canceled in all School District 59 schools on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. “This closure is out of an abundance of caution, as most of our school do not have air conditioning,” he said in a letter to parents. “The decision to cancel classes is consistent with other districts across the province being impacted by the same heat wave effects. Staff remaining on site may be relocated to cooler areas.”

He says this might be a challenge for families not expecting their kids to be home tomorrow. “The District recognizes the impact and stress this district-wide closure will have on our families. Staff will be available for parents wishing to pick up report cards and student personal belongings. Most schools will also have minimal staff onsite on June 30th, and July 2 to July 6.”
