Tumbler Time Table accelerated

Northern Health has updated their timelines, for vacinations, and it’s a big update.

Vaccinations for all adults were expected to start in early summer, with the hopes of everyone getting their first dose by the end of August.

But today, March 26, they announced that all adults 18 and older in Tumbler Ridge can call to book an appointment starting April 1, with clinics happening April 12 and April 26.

It’s one of ten communities that is seeing its dates moved up.

Other communities that have accelerated their timelines include Hudson’s Hope (call ins started March 26), Chetwynd (call ins start March 27), and Mackenzie (call ins start April 4).

As of noon today, Northern residents born in 1947 or earlier (74+), and Indigenous peoples 55+ can call to book their vaccine appointment. Once you’re eligible, you are always eligible.

This is the second stage of roll outs for Northern Health, who have already been vaccinating, or booking vaccinations, for people over the age of 18 in the following communities (regions): Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii, Stewart, Dease Lake, Granisle, Hazelton and Houston.

“The ‘whole community’ approach to vaccinating residents all at once is due to population size, remoteness, logistics, and/or accessibility,” says Northern Health. “These can be expanded to address outbreaks, clusters or high population incidence rates.”

There will be a new call in number for adults in Tumbler Ridge between the ages of 18 and 74, so don’t call the number that was previously announced.
