Lightning sparks fire 25 km south of Tumbler Ridge

While there have been some spectacular lightning storms in the Tumbler Ridge area over the last few days, the activity has only sparked one small fire, just off the boundary road south of Tumbler Ridge.

According to the Prince George Fire Centre, the small fire was quickly contained, as it was less than 200 metres from the main highway, and crews were able to get to it quickly.

The fire is considered contained, but crews are on site, working on it. “We have adequate resources to fight it,” says the Fire Centre Media Team, “but if it flares up, we have additional resources we can put on it.”

It is the only fire of note currently in the Prince George Fire Centre. The Wildfire rating is moderate for most of the Fire Centre with a few pockets of both high and low.
