Tumbler Ridge Horse Show

Grizzly Valley Saddle Club recently held a three day horse show as part of the Peace Country Circuit, a series of shows in seven towns throughout the Peace River region. It was a big event for a small club but it came together well and participants and spectators alike had great reviews for the Saddle Club’s first big show which featured judge Jodie Moore from Langley, B.C. It wouldn’t have been possible, though, without community support and we’d like to offer huge thanks to our sponsors:

Peace River Regional District, Meikle Wind/Pattern Energy, Anglo American/Peace River Coal, Teck Resources, Tumbler Ridge Inn, B. Cross Mechanical Services, Reg. Norman Trucking Ltd., Chetwynd Veterinary Clinic, Dig-It Bobcat Services, Tumbler Ridge Home Hardware, Dawson Creek Veterinary Clinic, Conuma Coal, Rein in Tack, and the District of Tumbler Ridge and the DTR Community Forest.

Also huge thanks to our volunteers, who helped with all the big jobs like moving jumps and the unseen jobs like registering participants; everyone worked together to make a great event happen.

Local riders, many of whom are participants in a lesson program with our certified and insured coach, Dezirae Wall, cleaned up with the ribbons and cash!

The Saddle Club, here in Tumbler Ridge since 1985, was constructed with volunteer labour and funds from an Expo 86 grant. It continues today maintained by club members, self-sustained and contributing to the economy of Tumbler Ridge, and striving towards providing more community and family friendly events. Watch for a Fall Fun Wind-Up featuring participants in the lesson program and then a Christmas Lights event with opportunities for family photos with some of the Saddle Club horses.

Congratulations again to all participants in the Grizzly Valley Show, Peace Country Circuit!
