TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The Northeast BC Community Foundation has established the Tumbler Ridge Community Resilience Fund to support long-term healing following last week’s tragedy that has deeply affected the community and the country.
Executive Director Jennifer Moore said the fund recognizes that recovery will take time and must be guided by the community itself.
“Tumbler Ridge is part of our regional community, and we are all processing this devastating tragedy,” Moore said. “In times like these, we hold each other close and provide the support needed to navigate the challenging times ahead.”
Moore said many families and neighbours are grieving and that healing will not happen quickly. “This fund allows us to respond as needs change over the months and years ahead,” she said. “Long-term healing requires ongoing resources, coordination and care, and that work must be guided by local leadership.”
She said the foundation’s role is to support the community beyond the immediate aftermath. “Our commitment is to stand beside Tumbler Ridge for the long road ahead,” Moore said. “We will work closely with community leaders to ensure support reaches those who need it most.”
The foundation said the fund will be stewarded with transparency and accountability to ensure resources remain available for long-term community-led initiatives in Tumbler Ridge. The resilience fund is intended to complement other fundraising efforts already underway. Donations from individuals, businesses and organizations will support locally guided programs as community needs evolve.
