As part of its 2026 Community Social Responsibility Fund (CSRF), Lake View Credit Union (LVCU) has given the TR Days Society $4400, to aid in the purchase of playground equipment and features at the Tumbler Ridge Fairgrounds.
TR Days were one of four non-profit groups across the South Peace that received a portion of the $25,000 that Lake View donated earlier this month.
The CSRF initiative is guided by a committee comprised of LVCU directors and employees and funds are designed “to provide capital and seed funding for non-profit initiatives throughout the Peace that contribute to the quality of life of those that call it home.”
Other recipients included the Dawson Creek Youth Centre Society (The Ark), which was awarded $6,330 for upgrades to entryways at the Ark, the South Peace Search and Rescue – Awarded $10,000 to help fund the purchase of an ATV for the transport of emergency personnel, medical supplies and rescue equipment to remote locations throughout the region, and the Chetwynd Air Cadets Society – $4,270 to fund the replacement of the Cadet’s storage shed roof.
“The variety of projects and the many ways these groups contribute to strengthening the fabric of their communities is something I’m always impressed by.” says Marlana Blouin, co-CEO of LVCU.
Jaron Neufeld, CSRF Committee Member and Vice Chair of LVCU’s Board of Directors, says there is an ongoing need for assistance and public support for these organizations. “Non-profits really are the lifeblood of rural communities, and part of the principles that guide how LVCU operates in the region we serve is to strive to be a resource and facilitator of the people who are on the ground, doing the good work of building up and strengthening their communities.”
Terry Cosgrove says the TR Days Society will be using the money to pay local artist Jarbas Noronha to build a volcano in the Prehistoric Park. “We are always looking at ways to upgraded the Prehistoric Park and fairgrounds,” says Cosgrove.
