Jane Miedzinski, who is currently the Executive Director for the Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA), is now a member of the Board of Directors for the Outdoor Recreation Council of British Columbia (ORCBC).
“As a member organization of ORCBC, TRORA values the important work being done across the province to support recreation access, trail stewardship, education, advocacy, and sustainable outdoor opportunities,” the organization said in a release. “This new role strengthens the connection between our organizations and creates an exciting opportunity to bring Northern BC perspectives to provincial conversations around the future of outdoor recreation.”
Miedzinski, along with her husband, was instrumental in the creation of the Tumbler Ridge Mountain Bike Association, who have so far built a pump track, a jump track, and a trio of downhill trails east of town, with six more trails being built this year.
This is a chance, says TRORA, to help represent Northern communities and ensure the unique opportunities, challenges, and voices of the Northeast are included at the provincial level. “Northern recreation organizations play an important role in BC’s outdoor culture, and we’re looking forward to sharing our experiences while building stronger partnerships across the province. This is an exciting step for TRORA, and we look forward to continuing to work in conjunction with ORCBC to support responsible, accessible, and sustainable outdoor recreation throughout British Columbia.”
