Trails plan is a go!

For the last few years, the District of Tumbler Ridge has been hoping to undertake a Trails and Destination Management Strategy.

Now, in partnership with the Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA), that project is going ahead, thanks to a grant from PacifiCan, the federal economic development agency dedicated to British Columbians.

The District is receiving $130,000, part of $4.8 million announced by PacifiCan earlier this month.

The trails project will involve extensive community engagement. “We look forward to hearing from residents, outdoor enthusiasts, and local businesses in the coming months,” says the District. “Stay tuned for opportunities to participate and share your ideas!”

This investment, says the release, “will help ensure our outdoor recreation assets continue to thrive, benefiting not only our economy but also the overall health and well-being of our community.”

“This important initiative will guide the future development, enhancement, and sustainability of our world-class trails and outdoor recreation opportunities,” says the District in a release on the website.
