BC Conservation Officer Service investigating shooting of grizzly

The BC Conservation Officer Service is investigating a bear that was shot on the side of the road in October near Tumbler Ridge.

Unfortunately, as they are still investigating the incident, they are unable to provide details at this time.

The bear was shot and left on the side of the road.

According to people who saw the bear, none of the parts had been taken; it had simply been shot.

Not only was the bear killed illegally, but the person who shot it also violated the no discharging a firearm within 15 m or more of the highway.

There is some suspicion that the person who shot the bear is a member of certain Facebook groups, as the location of the bear was mentioned online within hours of the bear being shot.

As mentioned, the Conservation Officer Service is currently investigating. If you have any information, you can call 1-877-952-RAPP.

In addition, the BC Wildlife Federation offers rewards for information leading to convictions in cases like this.
