Extinguished

Early in the afternoon on July 17, the power in town went out.

This in itself is not unusual (it went out three times total in July). The cause of the outage was “equipment failure,” according to BC Hydro.

However, said equipment failure involved one of the lines at the edge of town coming down and starting a grass fire right next to Southpaw Rentals. The fire started to get into the nearby bushes before the Tumbler Ridge Fire Department was able to put it out without issue.
