On the evening of March 30th, Robert ‘Bob’ Evans of Tumbler Ridge, finally found a way out of paying taxes. He was taken too soon at the age of 66.
Bob was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, to Harvey Charles Evans and Jean Anne Emma Darlene Evans before moving to Chetwynd where he would spend a great deal of his childhood, meeting and falling in love with the woman he would marry years later, Gladys Jean Evans. He made a career in sawmills across Canada troubleshooting, upgrading and overseeing projects. In his retirement he rekindled an interest in handcrafting wooden cabinetry, jewellery and keepsake boxes. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, hunting and although he might not have particularly enjoyed picking wild berries he relished the pies and jams that they made.
Bob is predeceased by his father, mother, younger brother, James, and nephew, Jamer. He is survived by two younger brothers, Doug (Anne) and John, his younger sister, Laurel, two nieces, Christie (Rolph) and Robyn (Christen), two nephews, George (Annette) and Graham, and his wife, Jean, his son, Trevor (Heather), and his granddaughter, Jada. A loving and caring husband Bob loved deeply, without distinction and will be profoundly missed.
A service to celebrate the life of a man who finished everything he started, giving tirelessly of himself for his family, friends and community, will be held for Bob at the Chetwynd Royal Legion on Friday, April 12th at 2:00pm. Please join us to share your memories of Bob and celebrate his life in a service officiated by George Rowe.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Senior’s Center in Tumbler Ridge. Donations may be sent to:
