It was just over a year ago that Bruce Butcher—whose Wolverine Nordic Ski Association became the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society (WNMS)—passed away.
To honour his memory, The WNMS has now dedicated a trail in his memory.
Kevin and Birgit Sharmin, friends of Bruce, were joined by WNMS board president Dave Thompson and board member Joline Couture to dedicate the trail, along with Bruce’s son Aubrey and his wife.
The new trail is actually an old trail, part of the WNMS Ski Trails near the golf course. The trail is the branch ski trails that makes the 5 km loop.
“Bruce always gave more to his community than he took in return, and in the best of ways,” says Bruce’s friend and WNMS pioneer Al Tattersall. “Those were the best of times with our never-say-die friend Bruce.”
