Despite the lightning that was flashing about on June 24, BC Hydro says the cause of the outage that left Tumbler Ridge without power for twelve hours was equipment failure.
The lights went out at about 6pm on June 24 and came back on at about 6am on June 25, leaving 1700 customers without power overnight.
According to Hydro, the failure was actually witnessed by a passerby, and reported it to Hydro crews to find and fix the fault.
Crews were dispatched and worked through the night to replace the failed equipment.
