The Tumbler Ridge Steel Kings dropped a pair of back-to-back games against the Mackenzie Mountaineers November 11 and 12.
Tumbler Ridge visited Mackenzie on November 11, where they were soundly trounced by the home team, 10-0.
Local player Brady Turner managed to put the puck in the net, but the goal wasn’t counted as the referees ruled it went off the cross-bar.
The next night, the two teams played in Tumbler Ridge, and while they lost by the same amount, the home team managed to get a couple past the Mackenzie net minder, to end the game 12-2.
For the second week in a row, Tumbler Ridge struggled with a shortage of players, having only three men on the bench, and the backup goalie for Mackenzie in net for the team.
That drought looks to be coming to an end as the team has made a number of player announcements over the last week, including not one but two goalies, Tanner Iron and the suspiciously-similarly named Francis Iron, both of Canoe Lake, AB.
The team also signed Melvin Carrivelle, out of Peace River, AB.
The team has two games scheduled for this weekend. On Friday the team is supposed to be playing the Kitimat Saax, though that game is not being promoted and rumours are starting to surface of that club having issues.
On Saturday, the Burns Lake Timbermen will be in town, which will be the first time the two teams have met.
