Three candidates for mayor, three for council with two days to go

With two more days for people to get their names in for Tumbler Ridge Municipal Council, there are only three names on the ballot so far.

Chris Norbury is the only current town councillor with his papers in. Darryl Krakowka is running for mayor, and Will Howe won’t be running again. We haven’t heard yet from Joanne Kirby, Bernie Lehmann or Curtis Miedzinski on their plans.

Also on the list is current school trustee Roxanne Guilick (who is also currently running unopposed for school trustee) and Timothy Walker.

That means there are still three spots to fill. While there are still packages out, they had not been returned at the time of this writing.

More hotly contested is the mayoral seat. While current mayor Keith Bertrand is not running, current councillor Darryl Krakowka is taking a shot at the big seat, as is Don McPherson (see story, here), with a third candidate, Rick Consalvi having tossed his name into the ring since the last paper.

Update, September 8: There are now five candidates for council, with Ron Hoffman and Luana Dusseault both adding their name to the ballot.

Update, Sept 9: 1 pm. Add Joanne Kirby as a returning candidate and Nicole Noksana and Garret Golhof as new candidates.

Chris Norbury and Roxanne Guilick at the recent summer reading club program. Both are running for seats on town council.
