After some wet cool weather knocked the fire ratings down over the last few weeks, we are back into high to extreme fire conditions.
The fire ratings, combined with a major fire burning in the Ridgeview Creek area means the Southern reaches of the Wapiti Forest Service Road—and all the areas accessed by it—are off limits to travellers.
It also means that the bush is extremely dry, leading to a brush fire just outside of town.
The District remains under a fire ban, even though the ban was lifted elsewhere in the Prince George Fire Centre.
There is some rain in the forecast for Sunday, and cooler weather next week.
