Update July 26: A suspect was arrested in Alberta, but turned out not to be the person they were looking for. New details to the story.
The Tumbler Ridge and Dawson Creek RCMP are still searching for two persons allegedly involved in a theft investigation that occurred earlier today in the Dawson Creek area.
A person of interest was arrested in Alberta and thought to be one of the suspects, but that turned out not to be the case
On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Tumbler Ridge RCMP members located a vehicle that was reported to be involved in theft of wire and property from resource sites in the Dawson Creek area.
According to the report, police attempted to stop the vehicle, and it fled the area along a forest service road (though where they were searching yesterday, it looked like they fled down one of the Capital Power access roads) in the Tumbler Ridge area where police boxed it in.
The suspects subsequently rammed a police vehicle, rendering the suspect vehicle inoperable. The suspects then fled on foot into the bush. One of the suspects was located walking along the highway and was arrested without incident.
Two suspects remain at large. A man, well known to police and a woman are believed to be involved in some thefts that have recently occurred. There is nothing at this time to suggest that there is any danger to the public.
“There’s no concerns for public safety at this time, however we’re asking the public to call 911 if they observe anyone walking on highway 52 north near the hour glass turn off.” says acting Detachment commander Cst. David Ribeiro.
K-9 unit and several other police officers are in the area looking for the two outstanding persons who were last seen fleeing on foot.
One of the suspects has been identified as Jared Wayne Holland, who is wanted on several warrants in both British Columbia and Alberta. Holland is a 28 year old caucasian male, standing 5’9 and weighing 146 lbs. He has brown hair and green eyes, though often wears contact lenses.
The third person, a female, has not been named.
