Update for local businesses

An update from Town Hall:

Dear Local Business Owners & Operators:

RE: Provincial COVID-19 Orders

Restaurants:

Restaurants and cafes are to offer take-away foods in single use containers or by delivery only.

Liquor primary and food primary licensees that are permitted to remain open during the current health crisis are authorized to sell and deliver packaged liquor of all types from the service area for off-site consumption to patrons with the purchase of a meal. A requirement for licensees to ensure all delivery persons delivering liquor with a meal from their establishment have valid Serving It Right certification will take effect April 20, 2020. This includes both licensee employees and delivery persons from third-party delivery services.

Bars, Pubs & Nightclubs:

The Provincial Medical Health Officer has ordered the closure of bars, pubs, and nightclubs.

Grocery Stores & Restaurants:

Premises must limit the number of customers entering the store and advise customers in line to maintain physical distancing. When customers are waiting in line at the check-out they must stay two metres away from each other. In a practical sense, this would mean an equivalent of two arms length or one large shopping cart.

Personal Service Establishments:

Such as but not limited to: nail salons, tattoo parlours, barbershops, beauty parlours, health spas and

massage parlours are ordered to close until further notice. These services require direct, personal contact with other people, and that is impossible to deliver while maintaining appropriate distancing.

Public Gatherings:

You are prohibited from permiting the gathering of people in excess of 50 people at a place of which you are the owner, occupier or operator, or for which you are otherwise responsible. This does not apply to buildings (including airports and schools) or transportation (including ferries and airplanes). You are encouraged to operate your business as usual with increased attention to common sense practices and measures to support physical distancing.
