A list of closures, cancelations and other postponements in and affecting Tumbler Ridge

Community Centre

Closed indefinitely. This includes the arena, curling rink and pool.

Teen Centre

Closed indefinitely.

Library

Closed as part of the community centre; may offer programs over the next little while. Keep an eye on the Library’s website at www.tumblerridgelibrary.org for information. Mr. Chris has recently started to do Virtual lapsit program, as well as reading books aloud. You can get there from the library home page.

Visitor Centre

Closed indefinitely.

Museum

Closed indefinitely.

Willow Hall

Closed indefinitely.

Town Hall

Open to the public by appointment only. Any issues that can be dealt with over the phone or email will be done in that manner. Call 250.242.4242 or email info@dtr.ca. The doors to the building will be locked. Anyone wanting to enter will need to have an appointment.

Fire Department & Bylaw Enforcement

The Fire Department building is closed to the public. Phone calls will be answered during regular business hours, including for any Bylaw Enforcement matters. No inspections are being done at this time. If you have an emergency please call 911. If you don’t have an emergency, call: (250) 242-3939

Community Centre

The Community Centre is closed to the public, phone calls will be answered during regular business hours. Appointments are available 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. upon request if you need access to storage (weight room lockers, hockey lockers, storage lockers, etc.) Note: if you have a gym pass, pool pass, etc, your pass will be put on hold while the facilities are closed, and restarted when they open. So if you have six months left on your gym pass at the start of the shut down, you will have six months left when the facilities re-open, even if they are closed for six months. (Note, this is just an example, and I’m not saying they will be closed for that long.)

A reminder the District is also prohibiting anyone from entering any District facility if they have returned from international travels within the last two weeks. Should this apply to you and you require District assistance please call 250-242-4242 or email info@dtr.ca.

Home Hardware

No changes to hours. According to Dean, shortening the hours gives people less time to get to the store, meaning more people will be in the store at the same time.

Blue Collar Boxing (Paul Rosborough)

“Due to the recent decision by town council to close their fitness facility and from talking to many colleagues in the fitness industry we have decided to follow their lead and close Blue Collar Boxing to regular classes this week. As you all know Tumbler Ridge is a small community and illnesses travel very fast here. We all use the same facilities, shop at the same stores and work at the same locations. We feel it’s best to be proactive until this blows over. This is temporary and we will be reopening as soon as it is advisable.”

“All my classes are cancelled, including ones at the CC and the ones at Pinnacle Peak. I’ll be offering free virtual Yoga classes to help with those that are stressed and going stir crazy from self isolation.”

Was hoping to start taking bookings this week, but with the new regulations, that has changed to May 15.

Tumbler Ridge Youth Soccer

“A recent decision by Canada Soccer to postpone all sanctioned soccer activities, has resulted in the Alberta Soccer Association and its affiliate, the Northwest Peace Soccer Association to issue notice to the TRYSA stating that all soccer activities will be suspended until further notice. In support with our partner clubs, the TRYSA will not be conducting any registration events until a clearer picture of what our season may look like in the coming months develops.”

We will be attempting our first ever live-stream of a sermon on Sunday morning at 10:30am on Facebook. This means that if you go to our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheRidgeAssembly/) you should find a LIVE video of one of us sharing God’s word during our regular church time.”
