This year, I’m volunteering at the BC Winter Games, and you should consider it, too.
They’re still looking for people (upwards of 200 last I checked).
Here’s some info from the committee: Fort St John is the northern most community where the BC Games has ever been hosted and 1984 was the last time the province came to the BC Winter Games here. The economic impact of the 2020 Games is estimated to be approximately $1.6 million for Fort St. John and region. Events are being hosted within the City, the District of Taylor, City of Dawson Creek, and within the Peace River Regional District.
Volunteer registration closes on February 8. Register online at www.bcwintergames.ca. They are still looking for volunteers for food services and food prep. They are also looking for already registered volunteers to consider signing up for additional shifts as there is still a need for early morning and late evening volunteer shifts.
There is going to be a fantastic Volunteer Appreciation taking place the week after the games and one of the door prizes for the event will be two plane tickets to anywhere in North America along with many other fantastic door prizes.
This event is for registered volunteers only, so another incentive to volunteer.
Additionally, Opening Ceremony Tickets will be opening this week. Tickets are free and general admission, but we do recommend people reserve ahead of time. They will be open on the North Peace Cultural Centre website at npcc.bc.ca.
