The Tumbler Ridge Search and Rescue attended four call outs in 2019 to help people lost around Tumbler Ridge and throughout the Peace region.
These calls were for a mix of local and visitors says Steve Tory, SAR Manager, saying that pound for pound, the Tumbler Ridge Search and Rescue Team is one of the best in the province.
He says that a couple of those call outs were for people who got lost while driving, one was for a pair of lost hunters, two were for ATVs and sled injuries, two were for lost hikers (four in total) and two were for injured hikers.
The last call was to assist finding a missing child in Mackenzie, though the child was found as TRSAR was en-route.
One of those lost hikers, he says was a teacher out hiking with her mother on Mount Babcock. The two took a wrong turn, then make another detour to avoid some grizzly bears. The above image was from her class, thanking TRSAR.
Tory says Search and Rescue is still looking for members. To find out more, contact him at 242-7195 or email TumblerRidgeSAR@gmail.com.
