The District is trying something new this year, and you’re invited to join in.
It’s called Trunk or Treat, and the idea is, rather than hang out at home giving out candy until all hours of the night, or setting your candy bowl on the step for the first kid past to dump into their bag, bring your candy down to the Community Bonfire, get dressed up, decorate the vehicle, and hand out candy there.
“I tried to get it organized last year, but was too late,” says Roxanne Trudeau. “It’s a small town, and everybody wants to come out to the bonfire; it’s a good way for people to give candy away.”
Currently, says Trudeau, a lot of people are talking about the idea, but not a lot of people have signed up. Still, she’s hoping that this could turn into an annual event. She says she got the idea from people talking about it in other communities. “I think they pick a place where people can set up in the afternoon after school. I thought it was a great idea. I googled it. A lot of places do it. A lot of people put a lot of work into it. It’s not mandatory or anything, but I’d love to see it grow in the future.”
