Cleaning up the Skate Outdoors

On Friday, April 5 the Tumbler Ridge Fire Department had its usual Friday morning practice. And, as has become a tradition for the department over the last few years, they went out to clean the last bits of ice and debris from the skatepark.

“We had kids dropping in over spring break to ask if we could do it,” says Fire Chief Dustin Curry. “But there was still three feet of snow in some places.”

But, with a few more weeks of nice weather under our belts, the majority of the snow was melted, leaving only ice in the shady places, which the fire department was able to clean off.

“It gives our members a chance to get in some hose practice,” says Curry, “and it makes the kids happy.
