Boilers are back, baby

The external heaters at the Community Centre being disconnected after the boilers were restarted.

After more than a week without their usual heat source, the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre has got its boilers back up and running.

The issue, says Joy McKay, was the power. “The main transformer was the issue,” she says. “Everything else running through that transformer didn’t have an issue, but the control panels do. They’ve wired these boilers through to a different source of power.”

While the boilers are back, that doesn’t mean that everything is quite back to normal. After a week without heat, the pool is a few degrees cooler than normal.

As a thank you for everyone’s patience, the Community Centre is hosting a Polar Splash, tomorrow from 6:30–8:30. “The pool is already back up to about 72 degrees, and it’s 74 degrees normally, but we thought it would be fun for the kids to get in there.”

And, on Wednesday, the programing is back to normal with Aquafit in the morning. Even if the pool isn’t quite up to temperature, says McKay, they should appreciate the cooler water.

“That end of the building should be all up and running by tomorrow,” says McKay.

The Action Play Café, which has also been closed due to lack of hot water will reopen today at 4.
